SUMMARY

Conductix-Wampfler’s Inductive Power Transfer IPT® product line is a state-of-the-art, non contact power transfer system which is used in highly specific automation, material handling, and people moving applications. Effective integration of IPT products with customer systems is essential to project success and requires hands-on, in the field technical support of the highest caliber. Such support must be readily available to travel throughout the US and international locations. While not at customer locations, the IPT Technician will provide after sales service including warranty repair and bench test support from the Conductix-Wampfler office as a member of the Technical Services Group.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide an exceptional level of customer service and cultivate strong relationships with customers. Work with customers directly at their locations, via telephone and email.

Provide on-site commissioning and on site trouble shooting, and repair at customer installations (up to 75% travel).

Manage IPT service and repairs.

Take calls from customers in need of technical assistance, remote diagnosis and troubleshooting support.

Issue RMA numbers for returns and administer internal returns process.

Administer shipping of return items to and from Germany.

Enter service reports in SAP.

Prepare quotations for service and repairs (in Navpoint).

Write analysis reports.

Manage IPT spare parts.

Perform IPT repairs in house.

Perform testing of suspect and repaired parts and of special IPT configurations for customer specific applications.

Perform modifications (hardware) and implement software upgrades (no programming skills required – just familiarity with interfaces and controls).

Handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, be extremely well-organized, and take the initiative to complete assigned tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates Bachelors Degree in electronics, electrical engineering or control systems. Minimum of 5 years practical, hands-on experience servicing, installing or trouble-shooting power & control systems. Must troubleshoot and repair above board level, taking voltage and current measurements. Understanding of reactive power (complex numbers, phasors) required. Experience with and knowledge of variable frequency drives preferred.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Willingness to travel, and work at customer locations on weekends and holidays.

The willingness and ability to travel with short notice for up to 75% of the time.

The willingness and ability to work overtime and/or irregular hours.

The willingness and ability to work in remote, possibly international locations, for possible extended periods of 60 days or more.

Ability to trouble-shoot, i.e. analytically diagnose and analyze, sometimes under pressure.

Mechanically “handy”.

Ability to solder.

Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams

Well organized

Ability to write reports

Proficiency using Microsoft Outlook, Word Excel, and Microsoft Word.

Presentation and customer interaction skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, complex numbers, phase & phase angle calculations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Also, heat (solder bath 800F) for terminating Litz cable, and heat gun for applying heat shrink tubing.
